YAKIMA, Wash.-Perry Technical Institute is opening a campus in Sunnyside, its first campus outside of Yakima.

Under an agreement with the Port of Sunnyside, Perry Tech will open a campus in the former Yakima Valley Technical Skills Center.

“We could not be more excited to have the opportunity to expand our school with the Perry Tech Sunnyside location, for the first time in our nearly 85-year history,” said Christine Coté, President of Perry Technical Institute.

According to Perry Tech, the initial offering at the Sunnyside Campus will be a 1-year Construction & Carpentry Technology program. Enrollment for the 18 available seats in the program is now open.

Classes will start on January 2 and training will take place Monday through Thursday from 7:00am-3:30pm. According to Perry Tech, the program will include theory and practice, including layouts, framing, tool usage and safety.

Perry Tech has also partnered with Habitat for Humanity for future builds where students can put the skills learned in the new construction and carpentry program into use.

“To be able to create easier access to higher education and hands-on skills is something we really strive for in our efforts to fulfill our mission,” said President Coté.
