Yakima County Elections: what to know

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.- Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7, and ballots are due by 8 p.m.

In Yakima County, a Yakima County City Council position and two general bond propositions are on the ballot.

Union Gap School Dist. Proposition 1 Safety and Construction Bond: If adopted this proposition would allow Union Gap School District No. 2 to update old and outdated equipment. and upgrading the gymnasium. This proposed that no more than $10,930,000 of general obligation bonds be issued. these bonds would mature within 17 years. The levy will use any excess property taxes to repay the bonds.

Fire Protection District No. 5 Proposition No. 1: If adopted this proposition would allow Fire Protection District #5 to expand and remodel three fire stations and build and equip a headquarters station. This would issue $18,030,000 in general obligation bonds that would mature in a maximum of 20 years. The bond will be repaid with excess property taxes.
