TRI-CITIES, Wash.-Washington is the 10th most fire safety-conscious state, according to new research from the real estate investment firm FireCashBuyers.com.

As a firm specializing in fire-damaged homes FireCashBuyers analyzed the search volume in each state of various fire safety related terms, including ‘fire alarm’, ‘smoke alarm’, and ‘fire prevention’; the search volume for every term in each state was combined and then weighed against the population to determine the ranking.

“The study has certainly revealed some insightful findings, but it’s particularly interesting that many states that are more at risk for wildfires, such as California and Nevada, haven’t made the ranking,” said a FireCashBuyer Spokesperson in a media release on the study.

According to FireCashBuyers, Kansas is the most fire safety-conscious state, followed by Nebraska, Virginia, a tie between Massachusetts and Oklahoma and Texas rounding out the top five.

Washington came in at number 10, with 219 fire-related searches per 100,000 residents.

The research and full rankings of fire-safe states are available through FireCashBuyer.

“It’s great to see that these top ten states are taking steps towards fire safety, whether that be preventative measures like fire alarms or items that will reduce harm such as fire blankets; these steps are incredibly important, regardless of where you live, as they can be life-saving and prevent a fire from worsening,” said FireCashBuyer.
