Franklin County elected officials under investigation for alleged witness tampering, intimidation

PASCO, Wash. – A criminal investigation is being conducted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on several elected officials in Franklin County, according to a release.

FCSO says Commissioner Rocky Mullen, Auditor Matt Beaton and a third unnamed official are all being investigated. Alleged violations include tampering with a witness, misconduct, criminal conspiracy, making a false or misleading statement to a public servant and intimidating a public servant.

A complaint from County Administrator Mike Gonzalez was what reportedly started the investigation along with information from the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office will be helping with the investigation, which will be sent to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office to determine the charges.

The exact allegations towards each official will be announced after the investigation is delivered to the prosecutor, according to FCSO.
