TOPPENISH, Wash. – A holiday tradition has returned, bringing memories of Christmas seasons gone by when toy trains were a common sight around the tree.

The Northern Pacific Railway Museum kicked off the holiday season this weekend with their annual Toy Train Christmas. The event is being held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 2-3, Dec. 9-10 and Dec. 16-17. The museum is located at 10 Asotin Ave. in Toppenish.

Over 40 model trains will be on display, including a 7-1/2 inch scale live steam model of the Northern Pacific engine number 1364. Children of all ages can board a real train that will transport them from the depot to the North Pole to visit Santa Claus. There is also a room where kids can build Lego trains, participate in various craft projects and run their own model trains.

Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for children. All proceeds go towards continuing restoration of the museum displays.

Additional information can be found at the event website.
