PASCO, Wash. – The Pasco Police Department have released an important privacy alert for iPhone users.

In a Facebook post, Pasco Police advises iPhone users who have updated their software to iOS 17 of a new feature called NameDrop. This feature allows users to easily share names, contact information and photos to another iPhone simply by bringing both phones close together.

The default setting for NameDrop is “on”. To switch this feature off, go to Settings, General, AirDrop. From that screen, find Bring Phones Together and switch to “off”.

Pasco Police encourage parents to change these settings on their children’s phones to help keep them safe.
