WESTSIDE PARK, GRANDVIEW – On Thursday afternoon one person was shot at Westside Park in Grandview.
Grandview police did not provide a description of victim or say whether the suspect has been arrested. They did call in a Yakima County Sheriff’s K-9 unit and Washington State Patrol’s K-9 unit to help investigate.
The victim was taken to the hospital in Sunnyside. We do not yet know the extent of their injuries.
The hospital went on lockdown for an hour after the victim was brought in. They say this is protocol whenever they get a gunshot victim.
The elementary school next to Westside Park, Mcclure Elementary was also placed on lockdown for a brief time. When it was lifted, police helped escort students out of the building.
