SWAT standoff ends with arrest in Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash.-A 42-year-old Walla Walla man is in custody after a five hour SWAT standoff on October 16.

Walla Walla Police first received reports of the suspect in violation of a protection order making threats around 2:00 p.m., however, they could not find the suspect.

Around 5:00 p.m. the suspect returned to his Isaacs Avenue apartment and WWPD Officers were able to contact him. According to the WWPD the suspect then barricaded himself in the apartment and would not come out.

WWPD Officers on scene learned that the suspect was armed and due to his criminal history the SWAT team was called to the incident.

According to the WWPD a crisis negotiator spoke with the suspect over the phone and he came out of the apartment around 10:20 p.m. and was booked into the Walla Walla County Jail on suspicion of violating a domestic violence no contact order and for making threats.
