PASCO, Wash. – Sacajawea State Park is giving visitors a chance to experience living history.

The event has Lewis and Clark living historians demonstrating some of the tools, and skills necessary for their expedition.

“Each element of the event tries to highlight different parts of the stories in our area. and help people connect with those skills and traditions and cultural experiences,” Interpretive Ranger Mary Keffer said.

The event also had the Puget Sound Knappers showing visitors how to make arrowheads our various stones.

“Just teaching people basic skills of how you can and trying to encourage interest in the craft. A lot of us are old like me and we’re disappearing so it would be nice to have young people who can carry on the craft in the future,” Knapper and Geologist Jim Miller said.

Mountain men encampments and plant pressing were also set up at the event.
