Colorado man drowns after driving car into Columbia Point Marina

RICHLAND, Wash. – According to Benton County Coroner Bill Leach, a man drowned late Tuesday evening after allegedly driving a car into the Columbia Point Marina in Richland.

Police were called around 12:08 a.m. Wednesday morning with the caller reporting seeing headlights under the marina’s water.

The Richland Police Department and medics arrived at the marina with the Columbia Basin Dive Rescue Team and were able to bring a man’s body to the surface at around 1:25 a.m.

The man was found to be William Badger, 55, of Greenwood, CO. According to Leach, Badger was in Richland for business.

Drowning was determined to be the cause of death. Badger’s family was notified.

RPD is currently investigating the incident.
