Adult Battle of the Books to test comprehension, teamwork in Hermiston

HERMISTON, Ore.-Four teams will compete in the 2nd Annual Adult Battle of the Books at Armand Larive Middle School on March. 12. at 6:30 p.m.

The public is invited to watch the battle sponsored by the Hermiston Club of Altrusa International.

The Adult Battle of the Books is based on similar events for school-age children that promote cooperation and teamwork and test reading comprehension skills.

During the Adult Battle of the Books four teams will be asked questions about six pre-selected children’s books by a moderator, with points awarded for correct responses. The team with the most points will win $250 for their cause, according to an Altrusa press release.

Admission to the Battle of the Books is free, however, those attending are encouraged to donate a new or gently used children’s book or money to Altrusa’s literacy projects.

According to Altursa, teams from Kiwanis International, Lions International, Rotary International and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas will compete in the book battle.
