Years of fairs, toys and food for one Yakima Sunfair booth owner

YAKIMA, Wash.— For years the Central Washington Fair has been a place for family, friends and just about anyone to go out and enjoy an evening eating fair food.

For Stephanie Martinez and Anthony Barrera, it means years of memories and mostly independence.

Stephanie began selling toys at a booth at the fair for nearly 19 years. The Yakima Valley says she got started as a way to feel independent and make her own money.

Fast forward and she’s been selling at 11 fairs yearly. She tells me recently, she’s cut back on the number of fairs she attends, making it seven.

Her husband, Anthony has been selling for about 9 years.

The two say their favorite part is meeting the different people that attend the fair. From the people going just for the rides to those experiencing a first date at the games.

This year’s fair has plenty to offer. From the all new Krispy Kreme burger to the infamous Dill Pickle Pizza.

Being a pickle fanatic myself, I just had to give it a try. The pizza is just like any other.

You have the dough, layers with a creamy alfredo sauce and cheese topped with bacon, dill and the best part…. DILL PICKLE SLICES.

The pizza can be bought by the slice or the whole pizza every day from September 22 to October 1st.

Tickets can be purchased online.

From a comedy show, reptile shows and so much more, the Central Washington State Fair has something for the entire family.
