Yakima, Walla Walla County organizations awarded community enhancement and environment grants

YAKIMA, Wash.-The Pacific Power Foundation is supporting local nonprofits in Yakima and Walla Walla Counties committed to fostering resilient cities, towns and natural areas with grants.

According to Pacific Power, the latest round of grants, focused on community enhancement and environmental respect, is one of the four grant cycles offered by the foundation annually and will distribute $112,000 across three states.

Yakima and Walla Walla organizations receiving grants:

SonBridge Center for Better Living: $15,000 for a digital reader sign to provide information about current programs and resources and promote the Thrift and Gift Store.Canyon Blooms Petals for Patients:$15,000 to install a weather-resistant door that will extend operating hours in the studio where the nonprofit creates vases to donate to those who are confined or facing hardships.Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Yakima County:$15,000 for yarn, supplies and other support for Project Warm-Up, which donates hand-knit hats, blankets and other items to people in need. Yakima Greenway Foundation:$15,000 to create safe and accessible routes to the river, restore surrounding natural areas and expand low-cost recreation opportunities. Washington Water Trust:$15,000 for projects to help restore water to salmon-bearing rivers in the Walla Walla, Yakima and Klickitat watersheds.
