Yakima Valley Filipino community hosting harvest dinner

WAPATO, Wash.-The Filipino-American Community of Yakima Valley are hosting their Annual Harvest Dinner on October 7 in Wapato as part of Filipino American History Month.

The Harvest Dinner fundraiser will be held at the Filipino Community Hall in Wapato at 211 West 2nd Street from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will feature a traditional Filipino feast.

The theme for this year’s dinner is “History Builds Community and a Legacy” as the Harvest Feast returns after a four-year break due to the COVID pandemic.

According to the Harvest Dinner Committee, , the meal will include the traditional Lumpia, Filipino version of spring rolls, as well as Lechon Kawali, roast pork and Pancit, made with rice noodles and Pinakbet, a seasonal vegetable dish.

Desserts such as sweet rice, cassava cakes and bibingka, a rich coconut custard will also be served.

The public is invited to the Harvest Dinner and to learn more about Filipino Culture in the museum area and youth performances will be put on throughout the evening.

Tickets to the Harvest Dinner are available for purchase from a FACYV member, at the Filipino Community Hall on Thursdays or at the door. Adult tickets are $20, seniors are $15 and children (ages 7-12) are $15.
