YAKIMA, Wash.–Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency announced a stage one burn ban for Yakima County on Nov. 2.

The agency said all outdoor burning is banned, including uncertified wood stoves, inserts, and fireplaces. The ban started at 11:00 am November 2nd, 2023, and will continue “until future notice.” They say they put it in place due to air stagnation. Anyone who violates the order could face a civil penalty.

The agency said the ban could change depending on the weather and said it’s important to note “restrictions may differ within the exterior boundaries of the Yakama Reservation.”
