YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. – Two events celebrating Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) are happening simultaneously over the next few weeks in Yakima County.
Tieton Arts & Humanities in Tieton is holding an exhibition event featuring a community altar and a full celebration on October 29 from noon to 5 p.m.
The exhibition is open from October 29 to November 18 at the Mighty Tieton Warehouse with gallery hours being noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
There will also be a poetry reading and open mic night on November 3 and other events on November 4. More information can be found on the Tieton Arts & Humanities website.
Union Gap is also celebrating with a community altar exhibit hosted by the Yakima-Morelia Sister City Association.
The event takes place from October 28 to November 4 and is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at the Yakima Valley Mall.
The free exhibit features a clay art workshop, Aztec dancers, a Catrina contest, a student art exhibit and ballet folkloric.
