YAKIMA, Wash.-An 18-month-old girl died after being hit by a truck in the driveway of their home on Nov. 7.
Yakima Police responded to the home on the 200 block of south 7th Street around 4:17 p.m. and found the girl with life-threatening injuries.
The girl was reportedly partially run over by one of the truck’s tires when the child’s father was maneuvering the truck in the driveway. According to the YPD, the collision appears to have been unintentional and happened at a slow speed.
The child was transported to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital, however, she later died from her injuries.
According to the YPD, the case does not seem to be criminal in nature. The YPD’s Traffic Investigation Unit is now investigating and anyone with any information or who may possibly have video of the incident is asked to contact Officer Jim Yates at 509-575-6246 or JAMES.YATES@YAKIMAWA.GOV.
