Poor road conditions and vehicle spinouts close I-82 between Yakima and Ellensburg

YAKIMA, Wash. –

UPDATE NOV. 30, 7:54 p.m.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Travel Center Map, I-82 is closed in both directions from Yakima to Ellensburg due to adverse road conditions and vehicle spinouts blocking the highway.

I-82 Westbound is closed at Exit 26 near Yakima and I-82 Eastbound is closed at Exit 3 near Ellensburg.

According to WSDOT, SR-821 Yakima River Canyon, is open as a detour route. Traction tires are advised and oversize vehicles are prohbitied on SR-821 from milepost 3 to milepost 25.

An estimated time to reopen I-82 has not yet been determined according to WSDOT.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Travel Center Map, drivers are experiencing backups on I-82 between Yakima and Ellensburg due to poor road conditions.

WSDOT says due to the road conditions, multiple cars have spun out on the road.

The Selah Fire Department advises for drivers to slow down and take their time as several accidents have already been reported around Yakima Valley.
