Police searching for suspect in deadly Kennewick shooting

KENNEWICK, Wash. –

UPDATE 7:56 p.m.

The Kennewick Police Department is searching for 44-year-old Adam Klei. KPD says it has probably cause to arrest Klei for first degree murder.

After a search of Klei’s house, KPD could not find him however found the car he was driving from the shooting.

KPD urges anyone with information on where he could be to call 509-628-0333 or go to its tips page.

UPDATE 4:10 p.m.

According to Kennewick Police Department Commander Aaron Clem, the male suspect was identified though his name is not being released at this time. Police are currently searching for the man.

Clem says the shooting happened between 9:30 and 10 a.m.

UPDATE 3:53 p.m.

According to Benton County Coroner William Leach, the man who was shot and killed was 48-year-old Travis Kitchen from Kennewick.

The exact time of the shooting is unknown, however the coroner’s office was contacted at 11:21 a.m.

Leach says his autopsy is scheduled for Dec. 7 in Thurston County.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m.

According to the Kennewick Police Department, four schools were locked down in Kennewick due to the shooting.

Cascade Elementary, Washington Elementary, Horse Heaven Hills Middle School and Canyon View Elementary were placed into non-critical lockdowns according to the Kennewick School District.

One man is dead after a shooting on Monday, Dec. 4. on the 300 block of S. Jean St.

KPD Commander Jason Kiel confirmed that a man died in the shooting, however, few other details are known at this time.
