Police investigating stabbing on Cottonwood Drive in Richland

RICHLAND, Wash.-UPDATE 8 p.m.

RPD says it was called out to Cottonwood Drive after a “suspicious individual” was screaming for medical help.

Officers found a victim who was stabbed in the arm and stomach. The victim was treated and taken to medics as the scene was secured.

Police called in SWAT to assist and used a PA system to contact residents in the area. RPD found out there was a fight in a home’s front yard and the suspect left before police arrived.

Police will continue to investigate and will provide updates when available.

UPDATE 4:28 p.m.

According to the Richland Police Department, the area is cleared and residents may return to the closed off section of Cottonwood Drive.

RPD Public Information Officer Claire Venema says SWAT and drones assisted police in the search for a suspect that is not in the area anymore.

There is no immediate danger to the public police say the suspect fled from the scene in a vehicle.
