Old SeaGalley building destroyed by fire in Union Gap

UNION GAP, Wash. –

UPDATE 6:39 p.m.

According to Yakima Fire Department Chief Aaron Markham, the fire in the old SeaGalley building is out with no reported injuries.

Markham says a call came in around 4:45 p.m. saying there was black smoke coming from the building. Fire crews immediately went to work and accessed the fire by using construction equipment to break the walls.

Markham says the cause of the fire is under investigation and that the fire started in the kitchen.

Fire crews are still watching for hot spots with some crews being released and more to be released within the hour.

According to a Nonstop Local reporter in Union Gap, the recently closed SeaGalley restaurant is on fire.

The fire is reportedly on the back of the building and crews, including but not limited to Union Gap Police and Fire and Yakima Fire, are working to put it out.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
