Man killed in Yakima house fire identified

YAKIMA, Wash.- The identity of the 52-year-old man who died in a house fire on the morning of April 13 is now known.

According to Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice, Kevin Ashley died in the fire. The manner of death was accidental, however, the cause of death is pending Toxicology/Carboxyhemoglobin results.

According to West Valley Fire-Rescue, firefighters responded to an outbuilding turned into housing.

During the primary search, firefighters found a man in the burning home and performed CPR and life-saving procedures. Despite their efforts, the man died. Firefighters put out the flame shortly thereafter.

The Yakima County Fire Marshall’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
