Flags to fly at half-staff in honor of Sandra Day O’Connor

WASHINGTON, D.C.-President Biden ordered all flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor on the day of her funeral.

O’Connor, the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court died on Friday, Dec. 1 at the age of 93. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

“She gave her life to public service, even holding elected office, and never forgot those ties to the people whom the law is meant to serve,” President Biden said in a proclamation ordering flags to half-staff. “She sought to avoid ideology, and was devoted to the rule of law and to the bedrock American principle of an independent judiciary.”
