FCSO investigating woman’s death as a controlled substance homicide

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash.-The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 28-year-old woman as a controlled substance homicide.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a distress call in the area of N. 58. on March 13. where CPR was reportedly being performed on a woman.

According to the FCSO, CPR and life-saving measures were unsuccessful and Karina Cadengo was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next-of-kin has been notified.

FCSO Detectives investigated at the scene and reportedly found evidence of drug dealing and a 34-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Franklin County Jail on suspicion of controlled substance homicide.

More than 6 ounces of a substance found at the scene resulted in a presumptive positive test for fentanyl. This is the third fentanyl overdose death in Franklin County in the past week, according to the FCSO.
