ESD 105, Astria partner for student mental health in central Washington

YAKIMA, Wash.-Educational Service District 105 and Astria Medical are partnering on mental healthcare accessibility for students in South Central Washington.

Under the new partnership mental health professionals employed by ESD 105 will be able to connect students with a licensed doctor at Astria, according to a press release announcing the partnership.

“Enhancing mental healthcare access for students is a top priority for ESD 105, and our partnership with Astria exemplifies our commitment to this crucial mission,” stated Kevin Chase, Superintendent of Educational Service District 105.

According to ESD 105 the doctors at Astria will be able to prescribe necessary medication for mental health diagnoses, including ADHD, anxiety, and depression, to eligible students.

Schools participating in the mental health partnership between ESD 105 and Astria:

Franklin, Wilson, Lewis and Clark and Washington Middle Schools (Yakima Public Schools).Grandview Middle School.Granger Middle School.Naches Valley Middle and High Schools.Highland Middle and High Schools.Ellensburg High School.Mabton High School.Selah High School.Mount Adams School District.Schools that may soon have access to new partnership (Wapato and Toppenish Middle Schools and Union Gap School).

“We are excited about this collaboration with Astria Medical to address the mental health needs of all students, especially those traditionally furthest from educational justice,” said Emily Nelson, Executive Director of Student Support for ESD 105.
