YAKIMA, Wash.-A prescribed burn is scheduled on the Yakima Training Center on Friday, September 22 that will scorch about 330 acres.
Nearby residents may see smoke, but firefighters are on scene conducting the burn and all necessary fire mitigation procedures will be followed according to a social media post from the YTC.
Prescribed burns reduce the risk of wildfires becoming large conflagrations by eliminating fire fuel, reducing the intensity of any future fires and allowing for quicker responses to fires according to the YTC.
