OLYMPIA, Wash.-Planning to hit the water instead of the mall this Black Friday? If so the Department of Fish and Wildlife has a deal for you.

Lakes across Washington have been stocked with more than 60,000 jumbo-sized “holiday special” rainbow trout measuring over 14 inches long and weighing between 1 and 2 pounds according to the WDFW.

“Instead of heading to the malls, get out and have some fun fishing,” said Steve Caromile, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) inland trout manager. “Teaching someone about outdoor recreation is a great way to create lasting memories.”

A full list of the 23 lakes and ponds that have been stocked with “holiday specials” and all current fishing rules and regulations are available online through the WDFW.
