Benton County needs Veterans for Advisory Board

KENNEWICK, Wash.-Benton County is looking for veterans to serve on the Veterans Assistance Fund Advisory Board.

The fund helps veterans and their families in Benton and Franklin Counties connect with resources and services in several areas, including transportation, housing, food and more according to the County.

Veterans who would like to serve on the board should contact the Veterans Relief Fund Program Specialist at the Benton County Department of Human Services, 7102 W. Okanogan Place, Suite 201 in Kennewick or call 509-783-5284.

Veterans Assistance Fund Services:

Rental/deposit assistance.Application fees for housing/background checks for housing or pre-employment.Motel/hotel vouchers for homeless veterans.Ben Franklin Transit bus passes.Utility assistance.Food vouchers.Burial expenses.Safety equipment needed for employment.Dental assistance.Childcare assistance.

Requirements for assistance from the Veterans Relief Fund:

DD214 (Honorable, General Under Honorable Conditions) ID, VA card (if applicable)Proof of income (bank statements, disability award letters, paycheck stubs)Proof of residency (at least 90 days in the county)
