Annual Luminaria makes bright return to Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima Area Arboretum announced Luminaria 2023 on Saturday, an annual candlelit walk in Yakima full of festive decorations and twinkling lights.

The 46-acre arboretum’s trail will be lined with luminarias. Children are invited into the Jewett Interpretive Center to decorate their own luminarias to bring home as well.

The event is set for Dec. 8 and 9 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 1401 Arboretum Drive.

The event has some changes from previous years. No shuttle service will be provided due to the lack of city bus drivers and the event will use an online timed-entry reservation system to control arboretum capacity.

Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly as the event is outdoors.

To register and for more information about the Luminaria, head to ahtrees.org.
