Yakima Valley Libraries hosting “Take Your Child to the Library Day” on Feb. 3

YAKIMA, Wash.-Kids and their families are invited to branches of the Yakima Valley Libraries for Take Your Child to the Library Day on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Kids and their caregivers or families are invited to drop by for crafts, science kits, to play on learning tablets and to enjoy the library’s kid-friendly resources.

Take Your Child to the Library Day is a worldwide event celebrated annually on the first Saturday of Feb. for libraries to highlight their free resources for families.

According to a Yakima Valley Libraries press release, TYCLD is an opportunity to express itself as a safe, community space for youth to learn, explore and be creative.

“YVL’s Take Your Child to the Library Day activities will be a great opportunity for families to discover, or re-discover, their community library as a place for kids of all ages to learn, grow, and connect,” said Krystal Corbray, programming librarian.

Children of all ages are welcome to attend TYCLD, however, the YVL has tailored its program for those aged 5-12.

Moxee: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.Selah: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.Sunnyside: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.Terrace Heights: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.Wapato: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.Naches: 12 p.m.-4 p.m.West Valley: 12 p.m.-4 p.m.Yakima Central Library: 12 p.m.-4 p.m.

“Most of the crafts and activities are self-paced and self-directed, so kids and their grown-ups can drop in any time to join the fun,” said Corbray.
