Yakima man charged for shooting at moving cars, hotel

YAKIMA, Wash. – 32-year-old Terrence Briggs of Yakima is facing nine felony charges after shooting at multiple moving cars and a hotel near the Red Lion Inn in Yakima according to court documents.

According to the Yakima Police Department through court documents, YPD responded to a possible weapons offense on the evening of Dec. 9 where they found car that was struck several times with bullets.

Court documents say that police detained Briggs that evening and confirmed that he was the shooter through surveillance footage.

YPD says Briggs started shooting at the car without any prior contact. The car reportedly had two adults and three children inside, none of which were injured.

Three others were almost hit by Briggs’ gunfire as well, including one who was in a hotel room at the nearby Day’s Inn where a bullet reportedly came through the window and hit a curtain rod two feet away from the victim.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Briggs is facing nine felony charges, including seven counts of first degree assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of second degree malicious mischief with damage exceeding $750.

Briggs’ arraignment is set for Dec. 26.
