Yakima juvenile arrested in connection with December 23 homicide

YAKIMA, Wash. — A juvenile male was arrested on Wednesday, January 14, in connection with a homicide that took place around Christmas, according to the Yakima Police Department (YPD).

Police responded to reports of gunfire on the night of December 23, 2025 around 8:49 p.m. Upon arrival, YPD officers discovered a 16-year-old who had been shot and killed near the Ink 88 Tattoo Parlor at Englewood Avenue and North 20th Avenue.

YPD officials announced the arrest of the juvenile suspect, who they believe is responsible for the shooting, on Friday afternoon, noting the assistance of multiple outside agency partners.

A follow-up investigation of this case remains ongoing, led by YPD’s Major Crimes Unit.
