YAKIMA, Wash.-A Yakima Elementary School has been recognized as one of 353 National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2023.
Apple Valley Elementary School in the West Valley School District is being honored for its academic performance and progress in closing achievement gaps with the award from the Department of Education.
“The honorees for our 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award have set a national example for what it means to Raise the Bar in education,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona.
National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective and innovative school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation according to the Department of Education.
A National Blue Ribbon School flag will now be displayed above the entryway or on the flagpole at Apple Valley Elementary.
Thurgood Marshall Elementary in Seattle was the only other school in Washington chosen as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2023.
