Yakima community-based organizations awarded health equity grants

SEATTLE, Wash.-Local community organizations across the state, including three in Yakima, have been awarded shares of Community Health Plan of Washington’s $250,000 Advancing Equity Fund 2023 grant for promoting health equity.

Community Health Plan of Washington offers Apple Health (Medicaid), Medicare Advantage, and Individual & Family Plans on the state’s health exchange and the grant funding will be shared among 25 organizations.

According to CHPW, the grant funding for 2023 is focused on community organizations serving immigrants and refugees in Washington, as well as Indigenous and Native peoples.

“CHPW recognizes that advancing health equity can only be achieved when we act collectively, by partnering with community organizations to meet the diverse needs of people from different cultures and nationalities,” said Leanne Berge, CEO of Community Health Plan of Washington and its parent Community Health Network of Washington.

The grants are given as unrestricted funds so that community organizations can best use the money to serve patients in their different communities. The full list of the 25 organizations receiving $10,000 grants is available online.

Local community-based organizations receiving funding:

Asian Pacific Islanders Coalition: $10,000.La Casa Hogar: $10,000.Latino Community Fund: $10,000.World Relief: Greater Columbia/Tri-Cities: $10,000.
