ORIGINAL COVERAGE

A Washington State Patrol trooper was injured in a crash during a traffic stop on I-90 west of Easton Monday afternoon, according to a press memo.

Trooper Elijah Eilers, 26, was reportedly outside his car speaking to the driver of another car on the shoulder of I-90 at milepost 57. A 21-year-old driver heading westbound then lost control and hit Eilers.

The press release says the 21-year-old hit another vehicle after hitting the trooper.

Eilers was brought to a hospital due to his injuries. NonStop Local has reached out to WSP and is waiting on confirmation of Eilers’ status.

The 21-year-old driver is pending charges. WSP determined that the crash was caused by driving too fast for the road’s conditions.
