YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima Police arrested a 27-year-old woman on Wednesday after she allegedly shot and killed a man and injured a toddler on Feb. 9.
A news release from YPD says the woman faces charges of first degree manslaughter, third degree assault, reckless endangerment and unlawful firearm possession. She is currently booked in the Yakima County Jail.
On Feb. 9, officers were sent to the 1400 block of Folsom Avenue for a distress call at 10:40 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found David Hernandez, 21, and a 1-year-old boy with gunshot wounds.
Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 1-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.
The shooting is the City of Yakima’s first homicide of 2025.
