Walla Walla fire crews quickly respond to basement fire

WALLA WALLA, Wash.-Fire crews responded to a house fire at 715 Hobson St. on October 19.

Walla Walla Fire Stations 1 and 2 responded to the fire around 5:00 p.m. for reports of smoke coming from the basement of the home. Under a mutual aid agreement Walla Walla Fire District 4 also responded to the call.

When fire crews arrived on scene they were advised that the residence had been evacuated and they began fighting the fire.

According a press release from the City of Walla Walla, the fire was contained to the basement of the home and was out by 5:13 p.m. No injuries were reported in the fire and the Red Cross is assisting the family.

City fire investigators are still working to determine a cause of the fire that caused an estimated $135,000 in damage.
