UPDATE: Probable cause documents explain reported kidnapping, robbery in Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash.-

UPDATE. MARCH 2, 2023.

The three suspects arrested on suspicion of holding a man hostage and robbing him in Walla Walla on February 27 have officially been charged for the crime according to Walla Walla County court documents.

Michael Duenas, 34, of Milton-Freewater is being charged with robbery in the 1st degree and unlawful imprisonment.

Nicholas Harvey, 35, of Walla Walla is charged with unlawful imprisonment and 2nd degree assault with a deadly weapon.

D’Sean Marks, 30, of Walla Walla is charged with 1st degree robbery with a firearm and unlawful imprisonment.

Arraignment for the three suspects is scheduled for March 13. Bond has been set at $10,000 for each suspect according to court documents.

Detective Marcus Goodwater with the Walla Walla Police Department provided an arrest statement in the probable cause request. It reports that the victim had been visiting a friend at the apartment on Evergreen Street when a stranger put something over his head and dragged him to the bathroom.

The victim reported hearing what sounded like the slide of a semiautomatic pistol, readying the gun to fire. He said he felt the gun against his head and was told to hand over his wallet, phone and any money, which he did. He was then told to strip down to his underwear, which he did, according to the probable cause documents.

The victim told Goodwater he was then kept in the bathroom for a few hours. When he asked for food and water, he was able to see one of his kidnappers, who he recognized as D’Sean Marks. After this, the victim said he was assaulted by Marks and another man, later identified as Michael Duenas.

The victim continued to report that the third man, identified as Nicholas Harvey, threatened him with a scissor blade. Harvey reportedly ran the blade up and down the victim’s skin and asked if he was scared, according to court documents. After this, Harvey supposedly opened the door and told the man to try and leave without getting hurt. He ran out the door and called police, leading to the standoff and arrests.

FEBRUARY 27, 2023

Walla Walla Police are investigating after a 27-year-old man was held hostage and robbed in an apartment on the 1600 block of Evergreen St. on February 24.

According to the WWPD the victim was visiting a friend in the apartment when another person put something over the victim’s head. The victim was then told to hand over his valuables and was assaulted by two suspects and threatened by a third suspect.

The victim was eventually able to flee the apartment and call Police. Walla Walla Police responded to the scene and after a short standoff arrested two men from Walla Walla and a third from Milton-Freewater.

According to Walla Walla Police all three suspects have been booked into the Walla Walla County Jail on suspicion of Kidnapping in the 1st degree, robbery in the 1st degree, assault in the 2nd degree and assault in the 4th degree.
