Teen dead after shooting at Kennewick home

KENNEWICK, Wash. – UPDATE. MARCH. 1.-The 13-year-old boy who was shot on Feb. 29 has died, according to Kennewick Police.

The juvenile was transported to the hospital after the shooting at a home on the 200 block of E. Cottonwood Drive, but died overnight from his injuries.

According to the KPD, three juveniles aged 13, 13 and 14 were involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing and no one has been taken into custody.

Kennewick PD will pass its investigation onto the Prosecutor’s Office to determine any future charges. The Kennewick School District plans to have the appropriate resources available for any students affected by the shooting, according to a KPD press release.

Update:

A NonStop Local reporter on scene says the scene is now cleared.

KPD Commander Isaac Merkl says more information via a press release is expected later on Thursday or on Friday.

According to Kennewick Fire Department Deputy Chief Michael Heffner, the Kennewick Police Department and KFD medics are responding to an incident in Kennewick.

KPD Commander Isaac Merkl says one person was shot in the 200 block of East Canyon Drive with unknown condition.
