Tamástslikt Cultural Institute closed after bomb threat

MISSION, Ore.-The Tamástslikt Cultural Institute is currently closed due to a bomb threat received on the morning of Jan. 5., according to a social media post from the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

The Cultural Institute and several museums throughout the Northwest were emailed bomb threats around 11:30 a.m.

The Tamástslikt Cultural Institute was evacuated and closed around noon and Wildhorse Resort and Casino security checked the building for explosives, according to Umatilla Tribal Police.

The threat is thought to have been a hoax, according to Sgt. Russell Holt of the Umatilla Tribal Police, however, the museum is expected to remain closed for the rest of the day as a precautionary measure.
