Suspect in deadly Milton-Freewater robbery charged with manslaughter

MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore.-UPDATE. FEB. 27.-The woman suspected in the deadly robbery at the Red Tea Garden Restaurant on Feb. 18 has been officially charged.

Emerald Julia Pena (Williams) was arraigned in Umatilla County on Monday, Feb. 26 and charged with First Degree Robbery and Second Degree Manslaughter.

According to court documents her bail has been set at $250,000.

The suspect wanted in connection to the deadly robbery at the Red Tea Garden Restaurant on Feb 18 has turned herself in.

According to Milton-Freewater Police, Emerald Julia Pena turned herself into the Umatilla County Jail around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 25, on suspicion of Manslaughter and Robbery.

Pena was identified as a suspect in the investigation and police believed they had probable cause for her arrest on Feb 22. The case is now being forwarded to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
