SUNNYSIDE, Wash.-Veterans Park was donated to American Legion Post 73 in Sunnyside on Veterans Day.
The common-use park located at S. 8th Street and Edison Avenue and Jerry Taylor Veterans Plaza was owned by Yakima Federal and had been appraised at $108, 700.
“With the donation of this land, Yakima Federal is pleased that what has been known as Veterans Park now truly belongs to the Veterans of American Legion Post 73 in Sunnyside,” said Leanne Antonio, President and CEO of Yakima Federal Savings and Loan.
According to a press release on the donation, American Legion Post 73 plans to install an information booth in the park to help visitors find the location of engraved plaques at the Veterans Plaza.
“With 720 plaques already engraved, we needed a place to set up an Information Booth, and the park will work beautifully for this purpose,” said Greg Schlieve, Commander of American Legion Post 73.
