WAPATO, Wash. – According to the Wapato Police Department, a situation involving a stolen vehicle caused Satus Elementary School to temporarily lock down Tuesday afternoon.

WPD says officers assisted Washington State Patrol troopers in following a stolen vehicle along South Camas Avenue at around 2:40 p.m.

The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier to the Yakama Nation Tribal Police.

WPD says the vehicle reportedly pulled into the Satus Elementary School parking lot, causing the school to go into lockdown as a precautionary measure.

The driver was taken into custody and the lockdown has since been lifted.
