PASCO, Wash. – The Franklin County Commission selected Stephen Bauman for its previously vacant District 1 position Thursday morning, according to a press release.

Bauman was one of three candidates trying for the position, which also included former Franklin County Coroner Dan Blasdel and Pasco City Councilman David Milne.

“First of all, I’d just like to say thank you to all the leaders that stepped up in the community,” said Commissioner Rocky Mullen. “We had three, very well qualified candidates. It’s encouraging to have three leaders step up in the community and willing to serve.”

Bauman is replacing former Commissioner Brad Peck, who resigned effective Jan. 1. He will serve in the position for 2024 and plans to run for the position in November.

“Thank you for this opportunity to serve,” said Bauman. “I’m looking forward to serving my community. You both have known me for many years. I put my whole heart into something and I will continue to do that.”

Bauman’s appointment to the Commission is effective immediately, according to the press release.
