KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash.- Parking violation at Pilot truck stop west of Ellensburg leads to drug arrest in Kittitas County.

According to a Facebook post made by the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, this morning KCSO deputy Matt Meckley noticed a White Ford pickup truck parked in a disabled parking space without the proper license plate or placard.

After the deputy ran the license plate it was discovered that the license plate on the White Ford truck was registered to a green Ford Truck.

According to KCSO, the deputy suspected the truck may be stolen. Swapping out license plates is a common sign of a stolen car.

According to KCSO, the deputy then began to look for the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to see if the car had been reported as stolen.

The VIN number was covered and was not readable from the outside of the car.

According to KCSO, Deputy Meckley identified two individuals inside the Pilot gas station that appeared suspicious.

According to KCSO, Deputy Meckley noticed that there were several bags that appeared to contain drugs inside the Pickup truck.

Deputy Meckley then spoke to a Pilot employee who notified the deputy that the two suspects had exited the gas station through a backdoor.

Officer Meckley then reportedly stayed with the truck while other deputies attempted to locate the male and female suspects.

According to KCSO, the suspects were located almost a mile away. Deputies confirmed that the male suspect was the driver of the Pickup truck. And the female was his passenger.

According to KCSO, the two suspects had seven active warrants from four different agencies.

Deputy Meckley then obtained a warrant to search the pickup truck for the VIN and drugs.

After confirming the VIN it was discovered that the white pickup was reported as stolen.

With the search warrant it was also found that there was a bag will approximately 200 blue pills that contained suspected fentanyl. Several ounces of suspected cocaine and heroin. And nearly two pounds of suspected methamphetamine.

There was also more than $3,500 cash and a scale in the Pickup truck.

The driver is now in custody.
