Man sentenced to 129 months in prison for Richland bank robbery

RICHLAND, Wash.- Richland Washington Police Department posted to Facebook to announce an update to a robbery that occurred in January.

On January 12, 2023, at 12:50 p.m. RPD was sent to Chase Bank located in the Queensgate Shopping Center for a report of a bank robbery.

According to RPD, Nelson Mejia walked into the bank and stood in line behind others.

When it was his turn he presented a note to the bank teller.

The note stated ” If you don’t want to get shot give me all the money peacefully and no one will get hurt”

Mejia then reportedly left the bank with money and ran from the area,

An investigation lead to identifying Mejia as the suspect.

Mejia was arrested on March 21, 2023.

On Wednesday September 20, 2023 Mejia plead guilty to robbery in the first degree.

Mejia was sentenced to 129 months in prison.
