Man appears in court for alleged homicide of infant son in Moxee

MOXEE, Wash. – UPDATE March 21

The Moxee man who allegedly caused the death of his infant son had his preliminary appearance in court on Thu., March 21.

Court documents say his furlough is planned for Fri., March 22 at 2 p.m. His arraignment and bail review is set for April 4 at 9 a.m.

According to a press release from the Moxee Police Department, a 36-year-old man was arrested on Wed., March 20 for his alleged relation to the death of an infant on March 11.

MPD says police and medics were called to the 100 block of Riel Lane on March 11 with reports of an infant having a medical emergency. The infant was brought to the hospital where they later died.

After an investigation, MPD gained probable cause to arrest a man for homicide by abuse. He was arrested without incident on March 20 and booked into the Yakima County Jail.

Until the case is reviewed and formal charges are filed by the Yakima County Prosecutor’s Office, MPD says it will not release the name of the suspect.
