Lane Closures Planned in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, WASH.– The City of Kennewick is announcing lane closures for their Steptoe Street and Gage Boulevard Intersection Improvement Project.

They say the lane closures will begin Wednesday, November 8th, and continue until Friday, November 10th. They will be from 8am until 4pm daily.

They say the city’s contractor will be doing striping work on Gage Boulevard and Steptoe Street. They explained while the work won’t fully shut down any streets, you should plan for delays and take an alternate route if you’re able.

In a statement, the city said, “The Steptoe Street/Gage Boulevard intersection is the busiest intersection in the City with over 85,000 vehicles per day. This project will increase capacity and functionality with the addition of double left turn lanes, double through lanes and right turn lanes in all directions of the intersection. The project will consist of widening on all corners of the intersection, installation of new curb, gutter and wider sidewalks, retaining walls, landscape revisions, a new traffic signal, an asphalt overlay and lane striping revisions.”

They plan to complete the project by January of next year.
