KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash.- Kittitas County Jail has received a $797,044 Grant from the United States Department of Justice.

The Kittitas County Jail received a U.S. DOJ grant to treat inmates with substance abuse disorders.

The grant will support the jail’s current Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) program.

The MOUD program along with other recovery and rehabilitation programs reduces the chances of repeat criminal offenders and re-incarceration according to the Kittitas County Sheriff.

“We’re proud to be leading the corrections community in working to make jail a turning point in inmate’s lives. I don’t support measures that reduce accountability or put offenders ahead of victims, and that’s not what these programs are about. Addressing the root causes of the crimes that put people in jail and reducing recidivism is just one more way we work to protect our whole community.” Said Kittitas County Sheriff Myers.
