KENNEWICK, WA – The Kennewick School District (KSD) will host three open house meetings to discuss why voters did not pass the Replacement Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy on Feb. 8, according to survey results.

KSD says the Replacement EP&O Levy makes up the difference between what the state provides for basic K-12 education and what it actually costs to provide students with the education options that they have now. To find out more about this Levy visit KSD’s Replacement EP&O Levy Facts page on KSD.org.

Open house dates/times are:

Thursday, March 31, 1 to 2 p.m. (Presentation is at 1:15 p.m.)Tuesday, April 12, 6 to 7 p.m. (Presentation is at 6:15 p.m.)Thursday, April 14, 6 to 7 p.m. (Presentation is at 6:15 p.m.)

All presentations are at the KSD Administration Center, 1000 W. 4th Ave., Kennewick. Translation services are available by calling (509) 222-5000.

The Kennewick School District Board of Directors unanimously voted to support running a revised two-year Replacement EP&O Levy again on April 26. If the levy passes, the district will receive a projected $14 million in state Local Effort Assistance (LEA) funding for each year.

The Technology Levy proposed on Feb. 8 did pass with a 52% approval rate, which ensures students will continue to have one-to-one access to technology devices, support, and service through 2026.
